Demo Requests FAQ⚓︎

Disclaimer

The FAQ is not meant to be a replacement for the RGL rulebook. Please refer to the RGL rule book for the latest version of our rules.

What is a POV Demo?⚓︎

POV demos are .dem files that replicate your perspective throughout a match. These are most useful in anti-cheat cases due to their accuracy in replicating player inputs.

How do I record a POV demo?⚓︎

Our guides team has made this video on how to record POV demos using Valve's built-in recorder. You must maintain a collection of your POV demos for the entire season.

I'm not cheating, why do I get requested?⚓︎

To ensure that a potential cheater will have to record, and submit POV demos, demos are randomly requested from the player base. This ensures all players are recording and holding on to POV demos and leaves no wiggle room for people who may be investigated.

What happens if I fail a demo check?⚓︎

From [1008.5] - POV and STV Demos:

# of fails Team Penalty* Individual Penalty
1 1 Minor Penalty Warning
2 1 Minor Penalty 2 Week Ban
3 1 Major Penalty 3 Month Ban
4+ 1 Major Penalty 1 Year Ban

* Team penalties scale based on total team offenses across all members

During playoffs, the first failure will be an automatic two week ban for a playoff match.

Demo failures expire after 2 years. Players that have a past ban in [1003] - Game Integrity do not have an expiry with demo offenses.

How do I submit my demo?⚓︎

Demos can be uploaded to Google Drive, Discord, OneDrive, Dropbox, Mega, demos.tf, or MediaFire then messaged to the admin requesting the demos.

Are STV demos/screen recordings/etc acceptable?⚓︎

No, only POV demos are acceptable, other forms submitted will be considered a failure. Intentionally trying to pass off STV or other POV demos in a demo check is considered fraud, and will result in additional bans.

Still have questions?⚓︎
